Description

Lawyers are developing new models for advertising their services through the Internet. Some of these models push the limits of Rules of Professional Conduct 7.1-7.3 regarding information about legal services. As lawyer regulators struggle with these new models, a number of states have adopted new advertising regimes. Can states effectively apply the rules developed for newspapers and TV advertising to the Internet, email, blogging, and other forms of digital communication techniques? Does this help or hurt the public? What happens as these two trends collide? The panel includes a marketing specialist, a First Amendment expert, an experienced bar counsel, and a lawyer who represents advertisers.

Listen to this program to learn:
  • the main issues state bars are concerned with in lawyer advertising;
  • how to avoid violating typical state rules; and
  • what types of rules have been (or might be) successfully challenged.
This audio CD-ROM includes full program audio and course materials.
